Vetting over volume
We would rather make ten excellent introductions than a hundred mediocre ones. Every agent in our network has earned their place through a real process, not just a license number.

GreatAgents.Net wasn’t built in a tech lab by an algorithm. It was built by a real estate broker who spent over two decades figuring out exactly what separates a truly great agent from a merely available one — and who got tired of watching consumers settle for less.

Founder & CEO, GreatAgents.Net · Broker-Owner, Blackwell Real Estate · President/CEO, Ally Title
“We know what it takes to serve clients well — not by running them through an algorithm, but by doing the actual work of finding out if an agent is truly great.”
James Blackwell has been in real estate since 2003, and in that time he has done nearly everything the industry has to offer. He became one of the top ten Prudential agents in the entire Washington Metropolitan area, served as an office manager where he doubled per-agent productivity in a single year and won Office of the Year for a 33-office brokerage, built what would become the number one team at Keller Williams in Annapolis starting in 2012, and in 2015 founded Blackwell Real Estate — which today has one of the highest percentages of producing agents of any brokerage in the Washington Metropolitan area. In 2023 he launched Ally Title, a Maryland settlement company serving Blackwell Real Estate clients and the broader Maryland market.
That career gave James something that no algorithm can replicate: a ground-level, two-decade understanding of what actually separates a great agent from one who simply holds a license. He has recruited agents, managed them, coached them, competed against them, and referred clients to them. He knows what consistent production looks like — and he knows what the warning signs look like too.
The idea for GreatAgents.Net was born in 2019 directly from the experience of running Blackwell Real Estate. Time and again, clients needed help finding an agent in a market Blackwell didn’t serve — relocating to Nashville, buying in Charlotte, selling a family home in Phoenix. The team did their best to help, reaching out to their networks and making introductions. But there was no systematic way to know whether the agent on the other end was truly great or just available.
There was no service that did this the right way. The existing platforms either ran consumers through an algorithm that matched on data points alone, or threw names at a wall and called it a referral. Nobody was doing the actual work — interviewing agents, evaluating their track records, building real relationships market by market, and only then putting their name on an introduction.
So James built it. GreatAgents.Net exists because more than twenty years in this industry — as an agent, a team leader, an office manager, a broker-owner, and a title company president — taught him exactly what it takes to serve a client the way they deserve to be served.

The Annapolis office — where every introduction is decided by a person, not a query.
James enters the real estate industry and begins building his career in the Annapolis and Washington Metro markets.
Named one of the top ten Prudential Real Estate agents in the entire Washington Metropolitan area — a high-volume, client-first production record built on referrals and repeat business.
Transitions from top-producing agent to office manager at Prudential — doubles per-agent productivity in a single year and earns Office of the Year honors across a 33-office regional brokerage, a turnaround built on culture, accountability, and coaching.
Builds what would become the number one team at Keller Williams in Annapolis — developing the production systems, hiring standards, and leadership approach that would define the Blackwell brand.
Opens Blackwell Real Estate in Annapolis, Maryland — serving clients across Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia, and Delaware. The brokerage grows to have one of the highest percentages of producing agents of any firm in the Washington Metropolitan area.
After years of trying to connect Blackwell clients with great agents in markets outside the firm's footprint, James launches GreatAgents.Net — a human-vetted, nationwide agent matching service built on the same standards that define Blackwell Real Estate.
Founds Ally Title, a Maryland settlement company built to serve the clients of Blackwell Real Estate and the broader Maryland real estate market with the same client-first philosophy.
These aren’t marketing words. They’re the standards James applied to his own brokerage for twenty years — and the same standards we apply to every agent in the GreatAgents.Net network.
We would rather make ten excellent introductions than a hundred mediocre ones. Every agent in our network has earned their place through a real process, not just a license number.
At Blackwell Real Estate, every client is treated like family. That standard is non-negotiable — and it's the lens through which we evaluate every agent we consider adding to our network.
Talk is easy. We look at what agents actually do — how many transactions they close, how consistently they produce, and whether their track record holds up to scrutiny.
Our service is free to consumers. We earn a referral fee when a transaction closes. We tell you that upfront because you deserve to know how this works — no hidden agendas.
An algorithm doesn't know that you're anxious about your first home purchase, or that you're managing an estate from three states away, or that you need an agent who will actually answer the phone. We do.
Every introduction we make carries the Blackwell Real Estate name behind it. That's not a marketing line — it's accountability. We don't refer anyone we wouldn't trust with our own clients.
These requirements exist because they mirror what we’ve learned over twenty years about what it actually takes to serve a client well. They’re not arbitrary — they’re earned.
Free service. Pre-screened agents. A real member of our staff follows up ASAP to learn what you’re looking for.
